This year I was so antsy to get my hands on our front porch and decorate it for winter! We finally have been getting some snow here in Pennsylvania, so I made it happen this past weekend. I decided to create a festive winter porch using fresh pine and gold jingle bell garland.
There are two white pine garlands layered around our door frame. I found these at Lowe’s and they were $12 each! I placed one going around the door in one direction and placed the second strand in the opposite direction to give it a more full look. There was actually some left over when I was finished since they come in 20 foot strands. Amazing, right!?
After securing the garland around our door, I weaved in the two strands of gold jingle bell garland. I love the pop of holiday cheer that this brings our front area. So festive and fun! I originally planned to use this garland indoors and then thought of the fun element they would bring to our front porch. I can’t wait to use these in different ways over the years.
You can see our layered doormat look in our fall front porch (here) but I decided for winter that I wanted to simplify this a bit and just use the striped rug. The black stripes coordinate well with our light fixtures and front door! I love the contrast it brings to the space.
This gorgeous wreath was pre-made at Lowe’s and I love all of the different winter greens that are attached. I hung this beauty on a gold wreath hook to play off of the gold jingle bells. I picked up this black and white striped ribbon at Target this year and added a little gold antique ribbon to go with the other gold elements. The ribbon really ties it all together!
The porch floor was looking a little bland, so I wanted to add mini trees to complete the look. I found these little cuties at Lowe’s for $19 each and plopped them into these bushel baskets. These baskets are awesome to have all year long! I see these all of the time at antique/thrift shops. Keep your eyes peeled on your treasure hunting adventures!
Honestly, I couldn’t be happier with how this turned out. This is my first winter front porch ever and I am looking forward to having lots of friends and family walk through these doors this holiday season. What a magical time of year!
I hope that seeing this festive winter porch inspires you to have fun with the outside of your home and not just the inside. It was fun to get creative in a new way and it makes our house feel a little more joyful. As always, thanks for checking out the blog today!
