I wasn’t kidding when I mentioned last week that I am officially full-on obsessed with antique malls. This past weekend I visited my second one ever after visiting my first one two weeks ago. I’m on a roll, y’all! I came home with lots of goodies at amazing prices but the one I’m most excited about? These antique matching corbels….😍
These cuties were smack dab in the front of the antique mall when I walked in and I couldn’t believe my eyes. I like to walk through an entire place before deciding what I actually want to buy. Anyone else do this?! I like to call it “antique fomo”…fear of missing out 😆 Nonetheless, on my entire journey through the mall I just couldn’t stop thinking about these corbels. I stood there and pondered how I was going to actually use them in our home but I just loved them so much that even without a plan, I bought them anyway.
Take it from a frequent antiquer, it is dang-near impossible to find matching corbels that are two-sided, in great condition and reasonably priced. I just couldn’t pass them up. When I got home I quickly realized the perfect spot: The entryway from our foyer looking into our living room. Since these are bigger corbels I wanted to make sure that they were in a place that wasn’t too narrow. Since this opening is pretty wide, they fit just right 🙌🏼
One of my biggest goals in our home is to bring it lots of character. Since our house is brand spankin’ new this can be difficult. I like to use pieces with lots of history and charm to bring that “old-timey” feeling. These corbels are making me feel like this goal is going to be doable over time.
I can’t be sure how old these corbels are or their history but the detail on them is incredible. Those curves and naturally distressed paint, oh my! Usually when I bring home a new piece it is in my home about ten minutes and I have already taken some paint to it. Nope, not these corbels. They are the perfect cream color that have been weathered over time to be a bit gray. LOVE. I just cleaned them up a bit with some magic eraser and they were ready to be mounted.
Eli helped me hang these (okay, maybe I just supervised..) using a simple d-hook on each corbel and hanging them onto a wood screw in our entryway casing. They were hung like a picture (similar to how our bedroom sconce windows were mounted). So easy, friends!
I’m so so happy with how this house of ours is turning into a home. It really is the details that make it unique and special ❤️ I love you guys for being here and sharing in my passions! It means so much to have you here, even if it’s just to chat corbels….y’all know I could chat corbels all day long ☺️
