It’s funny because antique stores are filled with lots of little things that most would think, “Why in the heck would anyone want that?!” Take these vintage Valentines for example. I’ve probably walked by sooo many in my years of antiquing and never really thought twice about them until a few months ago. I thought it would be fun to create a fun vintage Valentine card garland with them!
I’ve been collecting these vintage Valentines any time that I would spot them in antique stores. I tried to pick different ones in various shapes and sizes. This entire collection cost me under $5!
Some of them have never been used but the majority are used Valentines with hand writing on the back. Maybe this is weird to some, but these are the things that literally make my heart swell. I love holding a little piece of someone’s story. It’s like traveling in time for a split second and any of my fellow antiquers out there, understand.
Aren’t they precious?! I cut a piece of yarn I had in my office and simply clipped each Valentine onto the yarn. Then, I simply spaced each one out evenly and the project was complete! I used these mini wood clothespins to attach the cards to the yarn. These clothespins are awesome to have on hand for this project & others.
I used mini command hooks to adhere the garland to the back of the mirror in our living room. The Valentine card garland brought a fun little pop of color to this neutral space. The affordable faux eucalyptus garland is the perfect compliment as well!
I am planning on keeping these vintage Valentines and adding to my collection over the years. I always love having particular things to search for in antique stores. Maybe these can be used on another DIY project down the road!
As always, thanks for stopping by. Hopefully this post sparks an idea for an easy Valentine’s Day decor project. To see for Valentine’s Day related content, check out these posts!
