Yes, I’m one of those people that likes to decorate our bedrooms for the seasons. I mean, I just love being able to sprinkle little touches around different spaces of our home to make it feel more cohesive throughout. Last weekend, I started to decorate nightstands for fall.
These nightstands in our bedroom are new to us this summer and I haven’t had the chance to have fun styling them until now. I wanted to keep it pretty simple while still decorating each nightstand to feel complete.
When decorating any piece, I like to have a few objects of varying heights to add interest. I typically lean towards using three separate groupings. I like to have a visually-heavy piece (lamp), an object that’s a bit more “messy” and undone (vase of flowers), & a bunch of “smalls” (vintage clock, books, candle, pumpkins). You can switch the items up that you use here but this is just what I used this time around!
I started by placing the lamp on each nightstand. I love the simple clear glass and simple white shade. It really anchors each nightstand and brings some height to either side of the bed.
By adding different size books on both nightstands, it added height to some of the “smalls” that I mentioned above. On these books, I mixed up the styling! On the books that were a bit smaller, I added a pumpkin right on the center. The other nightstand had books that were bigger, so I was able to put a pumpkin and a vase of florals.
Notice how I have mostly the same items on each nightstand but they aren’t styled exactly the same? Personally, I love doing this when you have two pieces of identical furniture. This way, the pieces flow together and are cohesive but don’t look so stuffy or perfect.
Basically, just have fun! I loved adding in pops of color here with the pumpkin and flowers. By keeping the rest of the space mostly neutral, pops of color like these really stand out and make an impact.
I hope this gave you some ideas or inspo if you’re looking to decorate nightstands for fall, a bit! This styling can be done on a major budget by thrifting for a majority of the pieces you use. I love everything, Sarah. The books and pumpkins and dried flowers are perfect fall touches, and I never thought to use them like this in our bedroom. And I certainly have enough fall decor to go around!
I’m wondering where you found your bedskirt and throw. I love both of them, especially that toasty color of the throw.
Happy fall!

Thank you so much, Jane! Glad it sparked some inspiration for you. The throw is actually from Target and the bed skirt was from an Etsy shop called “HouseOfBalticLinen”
Hope that helps 😊
