The season of comfort food is upon us & I couldn’t be more excited! I love this time of year for lots of reasons. One of my favorites: The delicious desserts. I was feeling inspired the other day to cook up something warm and scrumptious and found this recipe in my recipe box & decided to give it a try. The result? Melt-in-your-mouth apple crumble.
It’s as delicious as it sounds, I promise. I had all of the ingredients needed at home except the apples so I call this a win in the simplicity department. Yummy dishes that take minimal ingredients/effort? Sign me up.
Ok, now let me share how to make this yummy stuff! First, start by preheating your oven to 350 degrees. While your oven is preheating – take six apples and peel/cube them. Place the apples into a greased baking dish.
In a mixing bowl: Combine 1 cup sifted flour, 1 cup sifted sugar, 1 tsp baking powder, 1/4 tsp salt & 1 egg. Using your hands, mix the contents until they’re well combined and form a “crumble”.
Sprinkle the mixture over the diced apples in your baking dish. Melt 3 Tbs Crisco and pour over the dish, evenly.
Top with 3/4 Tbs cinnamon and bake for 35-40 min (uncovered). Let dish sit for a few minutes and serve warm alone or over vanilla ice cream!
Easy enough, right?! This stuff is my favorite in the fall. Eli is a fan, too. I hope you love this recipe as much as we do. If you decide to make this recipe, be sure to tag me in your photos! Thanks for stopping by the blog today!

Insanely yummy looking! I like your recipe. Apple pies from scratch take forever for me, so I love apple muffins and cakes. So many choices if you look around. Did you have vanilla ice cream on it when it was warm? That’s a Midwest thing!!
