This year, I made a goal that I really wanted to stick to. That goal was to focus on one area of my home at a time instead of jumping around from project to project. For the past month or so, the area that I wanted to be my main focus was our laundry room. We’ve made lots of progress in that space which you can see in my previous blog posts here & here. With lots of the big construction parts of the project behind us, I wanted to just freshen it up with some new decor. I’m still hoping to find some better storage solutions for on top of the shelf but in the meantime….highest on my priority list was a neutral plaid rug.
I’ve had this runner in our laundry room for a little over a year now. I love the pop of color it adds & it really is a great rug! I just wanted something a little bigger to ground the room.
A few weeks ago, Target came out with a brand new line from Threshold by Studio McGee. If you haven’t checked it out yet…I highly recommend that you do! There are SO many great pieces in this collection. One piece caught my eye in particular: This rug.
I knew as soon as I saw this rug that I wanted one for our home! Instantly, I fell in love the timeless pattern of the plaid, the color combo & the woven texture. It feels like it was meant to be in our home.
I ordered it online in the 5×7 size and it was delivered about a week later. After laying it out and placing it under our washer/dryer, I knew it was perfect for our laundry room! The size of this rug is perfect for our laundry room and I love that it adds an instant cozy-factor.
The color is a true heathered grey with off white plaid lines. The photo online is a bit deceiving – I thought it was going to be more of a brown or taupe. Either way, I love it! It pulls out the color of the grey shelf on the wall and truly ties the room together so well.
We’ve had this rug for a few days now & I’m really impressed with the quality so far. There has been some shedding (which is indicated on the tag & website) but nothing out of control for me. It will definitely be staying here for years to come!
I went ahead and linked the neutral plaid rug below for you guys in case you are interested in checking out this cute neutral rug, too. It also comes in a 7×10 option, FYI.
Thanks so much for stopping by the blog today! I’d love to know what you think of our new area rug. Comment below!

I was wondering how this rug has held up with wear and tear? I have heard bad things about it!
