I’m all about giving old vintage pieces a new useful purpose. I stumbled into this antique dough box on legs and just knew that it needed to be used in a new special way.

Now let’s be real, I’m probably not going to be using an antique dough box for its original purpose because well…we’ve come a long way since this beauty was originally made. I love finding new ways to use pieces like this because I love thinking creatively and maybe making a smaller carbon footprint by buying re-used.

I have been looking for planters for our front porch to put on either side of our front door. I haven’t found any that I’ve been in love with quite yet but when I found this dough box, I thought it would be the perfect substitute for the time-being.

I so wish there was a matching dough box to go on the other side of our front door but beggars can’t be choosers, I suppose! I will definitely have my eyes open for a matching one in the future because I think two of these would be such a statement.

Since the dough box already came painted white (hallelujah!) I was able to just wipe it down with some soap & water and place in on our front porch. I bought two ferns and plopped those into the dough box and I love the look! The height on this dough box brings a uniqueness to typical planters that are much lower to the ground.

Finding pieces like these and brainstorming new ways to use them is honestly one of my favorite parts about antiquing. I love thinking of the stories behind pieces like these and adding to that story in a new and creative way. Any other creatives out there relate to that!?

Thanks for checking out the blog today! It means the world to have you here.
