Lots of you probably know by now that one of my favorite hobbies is going antiquing. I love the thrill of the hunt & finding the beauty in pieces that may otherwise be deemed “useless” or “junk”. It’s good for my soul to make antiquing a part of my free-time when I get the chance.

A few months back, I started a blog series that shared a few of my tips & tricks for antiquing. To see Part I of the series, click here! You guys seemed to love this bit of insight so I thought it would be fun to keep the series going by doing a Part II.

While I was out antiquing last weekend, I remembered a useful little tip that I could pass along to you guys. The tip: Buy seasonal antiques out of season. This may seem a little silly & I can assure you that I felt a little odd carrying these little Santa mugs and Christmas tree up to the checkout station but it’s so worth it! Why?

Well, if I was hunting for Christmas decor in November or early December, it would be pretty slim-pickins. By the time you make it to the antique shops, a lot of the treasures have been picked-over by other shoppers and supply is a little low in general.

Another reason that I love buying seasonal decor “out-of-season” is that the prices are usually much better. For instance, these little Santa mugs came out of a booth where all of the Christmas decor was 30% off! I grabbed these at a great price & although it will be sad to just store them away for next year, I’ll be glad I grabbed them when I go to decorate next year.

That’s the thing about antiquing that’s a little different from purchasing a new piece – you’ve gotta grab it while you can. It’s hard to find the same exact piece twice so if you find a glass Christmas tree in February, snag it!

This little tip goes for any holiday decor that you’re looking for. It can save you money & give you a wider variety to shop for seasonal decor throughout the year. I hope this little tidbit of information was helpful & maybe gave you a new perspective on shopping for antiques. Thanks so much for checking out the blog today!
