While all of my home decor friends are talking about Christmas, I’m still over here decorating for Fall by creating a cozy autumn entryway. What can I say? I’m not good at wishing seasons away. I’m really trying to soak up this fall before the winter months get here.
Last weekend, I went to the Anthropologie Outlet (new to Pittsburgh, for all my local peeps) and this new rug inspired me to create a cozy autumn entryway. I’ve been looking for a durable flat-weave rug to go in this space for quite some time but I was never sold on just the right one. I found this one at an amazing price (45% off retail!) and knew it was the one.
I love the light grey wool base & the jute border. Simple and timeless…just how I like it! The colors can easily flow with any season/decor that I switch into the space and I love having that versatility.
One thing I am a bit nervous about with this rug? Since its so lightweight, I’m curious if we will have trouble with the rug sliding/moving around. In an attempt to help this issue, I picked up a few of these rug gripper rolls and adhered them to the back of the rug. I actually used about 4 rolls since this rug is a 5×8. Better safe than sorry. I’ll report back on how well that holds up!
To spruce up the area a bit, I added this wheat wreath (from last year) and a few cozy pillows. This new round orange one is one of my new favorites. How cute is that color!?
Over a year ago, I spaced this old “shoe rack” (actually, I have no idea what it is…but let’s go with shoe rack) in our foyer as a functional space to store shoes. Above it I hung this architectural piece with attached hooks to hang coats/purse etc. I love how functional this space is and making it look cute is just a bonus!
I was sure to add in a couple of whimsical elements with the dried eucalyptus in the pitcher, twigs & dried wooden floral arrangement. They add the perfect amount of texture to the foyer.
Another one of my favorite parts about this space is the light linen window treatment we have installed on our front door. This is perfect for adding a little bit of privacy while still letting lots of light in.
After adding a few pumpkins, an antique basket and a few more cozy textures…our foyer refresh is complete! (See more on the antique pine wardrobe on this post, here!) It didn’t take much effort and by swapping out only a few pieces, it really brought the outdoor autumn vibes indoors.
So what do you think of our newly refreshed cozy autumn entryway?! I’d love to know what you think in the comments below. Thanks so much for checking out the blog today!

I am so loving your entryway, Sarah! I’m always envious of those who have a foyer, but you have knocked it out of the park in making this space just perfect and separate from the rest of your home. Oakley is loving it, too! The rug is fab, the shade is perfect. I’ve used rug pads before and they are totally worth it. The window curtain is so sweet…did you make it or buy it? I’m always looking for something unique and “cottage style” is my go to. Finally, all of the rustic and organic feels are just perfect and so YOU!
Thanks for the inspo. And yes…we can hold off on Christmas for a bit!!❤️

Thank you, Jane! That is so sweet of you to say. Oakley hasn’t stopped laying on our new rug since we got it…haha 🙂 I bought the window curtain from Urban Outfitters but unfortunately it is out of stock. I will keep my eye open to see if they restock it. It means so much to hear that this style seems “me”. It can be hard to stick out in the home decor community so I always try to stay authentic and true to myself. I hope you had a great weekend!
