I can’t believe it’s taken me until mid-October to start decorating our living room for Fall! I’m usually way ahead of the game but this year, I’ve been trying to transition our spaces slowly. It’s actually been nice to not feel that hectic-crazy-swirly chaos around seasonal decorating.
This fall, I really wanted to keep it simple. The furniture in here is mostly the same with the exception of the dark wood side table that was sitting in my basement! I love using darker wood tones in the fall/winter. I think this piece is perfect beside our couch and makes all of the white elements in the room, “pop”.
Since the piece has such tall legs, I felt like there was a lot of dead space underneath that could be useful. I placed this antique basket underneath and filled it with a cozy throw. Love this little functional storage addition!
On this little end table, I placed a large crock filled with pampas grass & sweet annie. You’ll see that I used this combo throughout the room to give it a cohesive feel. I love the neutral whimsical look of the pampas grass and the earthy (delicious smelling) sweet annie. To balance out the table, I placed a few books with a stoneware dish on top. I added my favorite fall candle to the dish and filled the space around it with some dried gourds that I picked up at a local antique show. How stinkin’ cute are these?!
To tie into the mini gourds on the end table, I used these large gourds to display on the top of the cabinet below our tv. It’s hard to decorate this spot because our tv is pretty close to the top of the cabinet. Any decor needs to be pretty low profile or we won’t be able to see the tv. These were the perfect touch! Of course, I added some pampas grass and sweet annie to this spot, too.
On the coffee table, I wanted to have a little fun! I was inspired by the deep color of these vintage amber bottles and thought they would be cute all styled together with some of the dried grass and greenery. See how the bottles “pop” against the light colors in this room and make a statement? I couldn’t go without adding any pumpkins to this space, so I placed some of these felt pumpkins around the bottles. Next, I sporadically placed them and since I’ve had these for a few years I thought, “why not!?”
Remember the faux olive tree in my living room? I wanted to switch it out for a more “fall” option and decided to place some of this tall pampas grass from Hobby Lobby into the antique basket that the olive tree was previously in. This was such an easy switch and I love how it warmed up the space!
As for the couches (which you can read a full review on – here), I kept the majority of the pillows/throws the same as they were for the summer months. I just added a few chunkier knit pillows and blankets to warm it up a bit. It’s really crazy how only a few small changes to a space can make all the difference!
Overall, I’m super happy with how our living room is feeling this fall. Its such a cozy spot for us to be. We spend lots of time in this room so I always love making it feel comfortable and relaxed.
Thank you so much for stopping by the blog today and seeing how I ended up decorating our living room for Fall! It means so much to have you here.

I absolutely love everything, Sarah! The use of the grasses in different areas do set the fall theme. I also like that you added the darker wood end table…I always think something opposing to a look really sets off what you have. You really know style–I never would have thought of adding a simple candle to a bowl with stones on top of books. Please come and redo my living room!!❤️
