Typically, I’m that girl that’s ready for fall on August 1st. This year, not so much. It’s taken me a bit longer to warm up to the idea of fall than normal but slowly but surely, it’s happening. After all, I guess decorating pre-season comes with the territory of having a home decor blog. Hopefully I can give you some early fall inspo with some summer to fall cabinet decor!
Last weekend, I went to an antique store and got a few new pieces that inspired me to decorate in our home. I picked up a pair of bunny bookends, a wooden mirror and some old brass mini- watering cans. These brass pieces started the whole decorating process and I wanted to compliment that with some vintage copper pieces, too. A few of the copper pieces that I have, have brass accents so I feel like the mixing of metals here is working in my favor!
I placed a pothos plant into an antique flour canister that I’ve had for years now. Just an FYI – Pothos are the best indoor house plants. I have the worst green-thumb and somehow have managed to keep this one alive & healthy!
This little book collection has been on this cabinet for months now, but I love the new addition of the brass bunny bookends! They add some interest/color in the neutral space. I chose books that went well with the other elements here: Greens, browns and creams.
Smack-dab in the center, I placed my favorite piece- The carved wooden mirror. I picked this one up for $20 at a local antique store and instantly swooned over the shape, wood tone & carved top detail. I knew this would make the best statement piece! Oh, and how about that chandelier-reflection…be still my heart.
Okay now, no one be mad. I did a thing & added some faux mini white pumpkins to this styling, too. I had to. I’ve had these for two years now so they didn’t cost a thing and they ended up adding a very teeny-tiny fall element to the cabinet. At least they aren’t screaming “FALL!!!!” in your face, right!? I added a whole bunch to this copper colander with brass handles. I’m kinda obsessed. See how I used them last year, here.
On an old cutting board, I placed some mini butter dishes and a crock of rolling pins. I thought the wood tone complimented the mirror really well and created those warm and cozy fall vibes.
I knew I needed to add a bit more greenery to bring this space to life so I placed some greenery (from my birthday bouquet from Eli) into a copper container. To add a bit more height to the far end of the cabinet, I stacked some vintage dishes under the copper container. I always like having visually-tall pieces on either end of long cabinets like these.
For the final touch, I placed the two mini brass watering cans on each side. Love how these tie everything together and give a funky vibe to the cabinet! So glad I picked them up at the antique store for only $2 each.
It was so much fun styling this piece and I think I’m finally starting to get into fall-mode. I’m so excited to share lots more fall inspo with you guys in the coming months!
I hope this shows that transitioning from summer to fall doesn’t have to be done all at once. You can ease into it, like me. Thanks for stopping by the blog today! How do you like our late summer to fall cabinet decor?!

I love the subtle shift toward Fall. I noticed the tiny butter plates before I read about them. Those little touches are 👌.
