I love myself a good DIY project. A Christmas DIY project? Count me in! These mini jell-o mold christmas trees make for such a cute addition to your kitchen during the holiday months. I am slightly obsessed…someone cut me off!
I have seen tons of these antique jell-o molds at antique stores over the years but never thought twice about them until today. I wondered if I could somehow make these into mini Christmas tree containers! I love the vintage vibe and all of the different shapes/sizes out there.
The molds that I found were next to nothing at a local antique store and the same goes for these mini bottle brush trees. I have seen these all over the place this year! If you can’t find these at your antique shops, check your local Target or Walmart….they have tons of options! The color and size possibilities are truly endless.
If the jell-o mold didn’t have a flat base, I simply flattened it by tapping the bottom with a hammer. Flatten these super gently if you need to because antiques=fragile! I only had to do this to one of my molds since the others were already flat. After flattening, I filled each mold with a bit of foam from my local craft store and glued the base of each bottle tree to the foam. After fitting the foam into the base, I added a bit of Spanish moss to hide the green foam and that was it!
One of the easiest DIY’s ever and it makes such an adorable touch in a kitchen. Who knew antique jell-o molds could have such a fun purpose in 2018?! I love that these are basically timeless and will be able to be used year after year. From here on out, I will be on the hunt for these jell-o molds at any and all antique stores. Can’t stop, won’t stop!!
There’s just something about little antique kitchen supplies that makes me feel super nostalgic. I start thinking about a family that used these in their kitchen and made great memories. It makes me so happy to be able to give these silly little jell-o molds another breath of life and use them in some way in our home.
I hope you all loved this little DIY project and, as always, share with me if you decide to try this for yourself! I made three trees so far and I have spent $12 total…budget friendly and beautiful. Thank you all for checking out the blog today and reading up on this mini DIY. Love y’all, big.
