I can’t believe fall is officially HERE! I always love this season for the sweaters, football, cooler temps, antique shows and…porch decor. Since moving into our house last year, one of my favorite places to decorate has been our front porch. I believe a decorated fall front porch can make your home feel all sorts of welcoming and cozy.
Last week, I showed my pumpkin round-up & shared where I found these cuties (here). Check that post out if you’re local for an awesome recommendation on a pumpkin patch! Since bringing them home last week, I’ve been so excited to style them on our front porch.
For some time now, I’ve been on the hunt for some planters for either side of our front door. I had a heck of a time finding ones that I loved at a reasonable price until I spotted these! I couldn’t believe how affordable they were so I snagged them right away and knew they’d make the best addition to our fall front porch.
To start, I placed some classic white mums in each planter because I wanted to keep the flowers pretty neutral. I definitely could’ve done a fun color here but I really wanted these colorful pumpkins to be the focal point on either side of the door!
A little tip for picking out your pumpkins: Try to get at least two of each color. You can see I picked up two dark orange, two golden, two blue, four white & four light orange. I always recommend this because I love having each side of the door be “balanced” when it comes to color.
You can see that I tried to put one of each color on both sides of the door. If there were four of a particular color, I split them! This creates a bit more of a visual balance when looking at the pumpkin display from afar.
Notice how the pumpkins on each side of the door aren’t displayed perfectly the same. I think this is important in keeping the space from looking too structured or “stuffy”. I kinda like to make it look like these pumpkins were randomly placed here & they weren’t perfectly placed (although we all know the truth behind that… 😉 )
Another tip is to stack your pumpkins on top of each other to create height and dimension. This trick allows your eyes to flow instead of being too focused on one spot.
I also love finding pumpkins that are multiple shapes and sizes. I opt for a few bigger ones, multiple medium sized and plenty of smalls to fill in where need-be.
It’s starting to feel like fall from the outside, in. I love this time of year and seeing this cute little scene when walking in/out of our home every day, puts a smile on this face of mine.
I finished it up by adding this DIY faux wreath that I blogged about here. It was the perfect touch to tie it all together!
I’d love to know what you all think of our fall front porch this year! I had lots of fun styling it with the pretty pumpkins. Thanks so much for being here & seeing what we’re up to. It means the world!
