It’s my favorite time of year – Fall porch decorating season! I always get so excited to decorate our front porch for Fall. It’s always so much fun to get creative and make our home welcoming for the season. This year, I gave myself a little challenge: Decorate the porch for Fall without using mums. I’m really happy with how our Fall porch with dried hydrangeas and grass turned out!

The inspiration for my little decorating challenge? Well, myself. I can’t seem to keep mums alive for the life of me. So this year, I opted to decorate my porch without them. Since mums are a classic porch Fall staple, I knew this would be a bit of a challenge.

To start, I picked up this tall grass from my local Lowe’s Home Improvement store. The height of the grass looks great on either side of our front door! Giving a little visual height is always important on a porch display.

Next up, pumpkins! I stuck with a muted color scheme. The ones I opted for this year were green, tan & light orange. I love how the colors flow together. Even the grass has a similar color scheme. Don’t you just love when decorating starts to take shape!?

Lastly, I was hoping to make my grass look more “full”. I added some dried hydrangeas around the perimeter of the planters. The hydrangeas add the perfect amount of fullness and dimension to each planter. These were free clippings from my dad’s yard & I think they add a cute fall touch!

I’m super happy with how our fall porch with dried hydrangeas and grass turned out. It goes to show, decor is subjective! Never feel like you “have” to use mums (or even pumpkins) to show your seasonal spirit.

I hope this gave you some Fall porch inspiration. To see last year’s porch decor, check out this post!
