Farmhouse Kitchen Hardware : Faucet, Knobs, and Pulls

Ever since this home of ours was just a figment of our imagination, I knew that I wanted a (mostly) white farmhouse kitchen. There is just something so fresh, crisp and timeless about them. With this decision, I also realized I would need to “rough” it up a bit by adding some elements that weren’t so polished. One of the easiest ways I did this was by adding hardware that had an old school look.Since we went with white cabinets in our kitchen I wanted to use hardware that would have a pretty good contrast against them. We used oil-rubbed bronze hardware in our kitchen and I think it has toned down a lot of the “pretty” that was going on with those white cabinets. I love how it turned out!I started with the faucet since I knew that I wanted this to be the focal point of the kitchen. A lot of time would be spent here preparing for holidays, dinners, and late night cookie baking. I was looking for a country style faucet with a hose sprayer and I wanted to be sure to find one that was tall enough to fit a large stock pot underneath. This was something I learned after living in our apartment for three years. I would go to make pasta and have to have the pot at an angle under the faucet to fill it since it was so short. It’s the little things you notice…am I right!? I found this one on Amazon and fell in love instantly. Plus, Amazon Prime member over here so we got this in two days at our doorstep! 🙌🏼 Yay for technology in 2018.Next up was the cabinet hardware. Again, I was trying to find something that would compliment the faucet and give off that rustic/farmhouse vibe. I found these pulls and my heart was set on them. They remind me of old card catalog hardware! Yes, please 😍 Luckily, they had knobs to match and these puppies were in my cart before I even had time to consider another option….😅 Once my heart is set on something, there is no turning around. Anyone else this way!?In person, they show much more “antiquing” than the photos are able to capture. It almost looks like they are slightly rusted, which is right up my alley! I should mention however, the screws that came with the knobs and pulls were not long enough for our cabinets. I’m not sure if our cabinets are thicker than standard size but we did have to make an extra trip to Lowe’s to buy deeper screws. It’s worth mentioning!There ya have it! We are so happy with our kitchen hardware and how it has pulled together the space. This is truly my favorite space in our home and it’s the little details that make it so special.
