Today I am spilling the beans and giving away all of my secrets! I have had so many requests from buddies wanting to know where I shop, how I found out about antique shows, and where to look. I wanted to put together a post to hopefully help you all in your antiquing journeys and share some of the tips that I have learned throughout the years. The best part about these tips is that they can be applied no matter where you live. Let’s go antiquing!
Facebook Events
This is probably how I found out about 75% of the antique shows/flea markets that I go to on the weekends. Follow your favorite local antique shops on Facebook to stay in the loop or just click on the “events” feature to browse. You can search events happening in your area on certain days and find exactly what you’re looking for by searching keywords such as: antique, flea market, or craft show.Newspaper
Ok maybe this option is going by the wayside but it is the BEST option for finding yard sales in the summer/fall. Families hosting the yard sales tend to put an add in the paper because of how cheap it is. I find tons of estate sales this way too! Some of my favorite finds have been at yard/estate sales because the prices are so cheap. Sometimes people just want rid of all of that stuff that has been sitting in their basement for too long. Sign me up!Craigslist/Facebook Marketplace
I swear my husband laughs at me for how much I am on both of these. I can’t help it! I have used Craigslist for years and ever since Facebook Marketplace came around a few years ago I have been hooked. The thing I love about Marketplace is being able to see exactly who is selling the item, how far they live from you and the fact that you can set up notifications for certain key words. I get notifications when certain items are posted because of the keyword the seller uses in the item description! When searching on Craigslist or the Marketplace I will search key words like these: antique, primitive, farmhouse, rustic, and chippy. Just a few tips for ya!
Etsy
I consider this the easiest way to score antiques anywhere you live. Plus, you can go antiquing from your couch and have them show up at your doorstep and what can be better than that!? I will search Etsy for specific items (if I have something in mind) or enter in the keywords that I listed above. I have found lots of goodies on Etsy. In some cases, if you follow the Etsy shop on other social media (FB, Instagram, etc) they will give you a discount code!I have been consistently antiquing for a few years now so these are just a few tips and tricks that I have learned along the way. I hope they are helpful in scoring yourself some new-old finds in your area! I appreciate each and every one of you for checking out the blog today. Best wishes on your antiquing adventures!
