I have to admit – I’m not the best plant lady. It’s a skill I’m working on as I get older but it’s not something that has come very easily to me. Having a green thumb is a work in progress for sure! That’s why today I want to share my indoor plants for beginners guide.
Like I said, I’ve been working on this skill & have had lots of trial and error in finding indoor plants that I don’t totally kill within a few weeks of bringing it home. Let’s just say, I’ve killed a whole lot of plants in my day & it’s not something I’m super proud of because buying fresh plants can be pricey if you have to keep replacing them.
I knew I needed to do a little research & after doing so, I’ve had much better luck in having healthy plants that live for a long time. The ones you see on our reclaimed potting bench are our indoor plants that I brought outside to water. They are thriving! I put together a list of a few indoor plants for beginners that I’ve had no issue keeping alive – which says something for a girl with a black thumb, like me!
I thought it would be a fun idea to share the indoor plants that are easy for me to take care of & have thrived in our home. I’m hoping this is helpful if you’re looking to add some fresh plants to your home but feel a little intimidated on where to start.
INDOOR PLANTS FOR BEGINNERS
chlorophytum comosum – (spider plant)
pothos plant
mini ivy adam
schefflera arboricola
snake plant
peperomia
These are all plants that I’ve had great success in keeping alive & healthy. A tip that has helped me along the way? Don’t water all of your plants everyday or on an exact schedule. Each plant has it’s own absorbancy with water & will need individual care to keep it alive. Typically, you’ll want to water your plants when the soil feels dry. If the soil is still damp – no need to water!
I hope this was helpful if you’re looking to be a better plant mama, like me! Let me know below if you liked this post or if it was informative. Thanks for stopping by!
