I have a love-hate relationship with winter. It starts out with Christmas which is always super exciting but then those awkward months that come next are always a little strange to me. It’s taken me awhile to figure out how to decorate our home in this “in-between” stage of seasons – after Christmas but not quite Spring.

This year, I really wanted to find a way to decorate our home during these months that would make it feel warm & inviting, while also being seasonally appropriate. There are a few things I love to add into decor to portray a cozy and fresh vibe this time of year. I feel like these simple tips will transition our home decor from winter to spring like a breeze.

Greenery/Plants
After the holiday blues are over, I love to freshen things up with lots of greenery and plants. I use a mixture of real & faux greenery in our home mostly because I don’t exactly have the best green-thumb (working on that…). I added quite a few in our living room with the faux wreath on the coffee table, giant dried floral wreath & the real potted plant on our end table. All three of these really bring the space to life and keep it looking fresh all winter long.

Cozy Textures
Layer it up! With the cool temperatures outside, it only makes sense to keep things nice & cozy inside. I like to layer up lots of textured pillows and blankets to make it feel inviting. A tip on textures – the more you add, the better. See all of these blankets & pillows scattered all over our couches? Kinda makes them look like they’re bundled up and wearing a winter sweater, right? Just how I like it.

Baskets
I placed an antique basket under our coffee table because I love the warmth and texture that baskets can bring any room. These are super easy to find at a great price at thrift stores, flea markets or yard sales. I love using them this time of year because of the wooden element & the typically-warm tone. Plop a pillow or blanket in them for ultimate winter vibes.

Candles
I love having lots of candles around our home all year long but especially during these dreary winter months. Something about them screams “cozy” to me. I always have one burning on our end table in our living room – not to mention, a few other rooms as well. This season, I actually placed a bundle of pillar candles on the coffee table. Just like the pillows and blankets..the more, the merrier.

I hope this little list was helpful if you’re looking to cozy up your home this winter. It’s always an awkward season of home decorating for me personally, so I like using these tips to stay on track.
