I’m definitely one of those girls that refuses to check luggage or over-pack for vacation. I can honestly say, I used to be the complete opposite but recently I’ve found a good system that works for me and saves a bit of time in the airport.
First things first: Have a game plan. I like to start by picking out the “bottoms” that I’m packing for vacation. This allows me to easily make outfits! For beach trips, I always pack a denim pair (or two, if there’s room) along with a white or black pair. Between these two choices, basically any top can easily mix/match!
I like to include lots of “top” options. This includes: tees, tanks and even light sweaters for cooler evenings! Try to pack things that are light in weight and easy to layer. I like to include a couple of color options! I’d throw in a few camis/under-tanks to put under tees etc. I usually go with a neutral-nude, gray and white.
The easiest all-in-one outfit? Dresses. I love packing a few dresses for vacation because they take little to no effort to throw on in a pinch! I packed a few for vacation this year and I ended up wearing all of them because I hardly had to think about it. Linen or polyester are my favorite to pack into a carry-on because they’re so lightweight and easy to shove into tiny spaces in your bag!
Okay. Shoes. I tend to take about four pairs for vacation. I always recommend packing about two pairs that could virtually go with any outfit. For me, this is shoes that are brown or black leather. You really can’t go wrong! This year I took a pair of espadrilles that had a little height to them but were still comfy. These made any outfit a bit more dressed up and added a little height to my short stature 😉 For flying, I like to wear a slide on pair so that going through security at the airport is painless and popping your shoes off on the plane is no problem.
Personally, I always pack two swimsuits because I don’t find a need for more than this! I usually don’t like messing up my tan lines too much and who really owns ten swimsuits that fit them perfectly, anyways? Not me. Haha! As for sleeping, I usually have Eli pack a few extra t-shirts in his bag for me because I’m not super fancy when it comes to what I sleep in. My man’s tees are more than good for me!
Another quick tip before packing your bag: Lay out all of the items on your floor to see exactly what you’re bringing with you. This helps visualize outfits easily! I hope by sharing some of my vacation-packing process, it helps you a bit in being prepared for your vacation this year! Like I mentioned earlier, I like to be super intentional about the items I pack & never check a bag when flying. Thanks for popping by the blog today!
