A home decor trend I’m loving right now? Earthy-textured planters or vases. I think it’s all of the natural elements of stone, concrete or terracotta that I love so much. I’ve been adding a few of these earthy-textured pieces around the house and recently stumbled into this stone planter. I just couldn’t walk out of HomeGoods without it. Today, I want to share how I created this round planter DIY centerpiece for our living room.
I loved this planter at first sight. The natural stone weathered vibe really caught my eye! I racked my brain with ideas on what I could fill the planter with that would be a bit more unconventional than a plant. Let’s be real, I’m not the best at keeping plants alive and didn’t want that commitment. I thought it would be fun to make a statement centerpiece on our coffee table somehow but needed something to put inside.
After rummaging through storage, I found these droopy faux greens (see them on my Fall mantel display) that I thought would be perfect for hanging over the edge. I definitely wanted to add some type of greenery to this centerpiece to soften the heavy stone texture.
Next up, was to fill this planter with some type of filler because of its depth. To stick with the earthy textures going on here, I decided to add some stones from Home Depot. I loved the color variation of these rocks and the larger size of the stones themselves.
To break up some of the stone texture, I placed in a few white pillar candles. I always love having extras of these around the house for projects like this. By using candles of varying heights, the centerpiece has visual interest and doesn’t seem uniform.
There you have it – an easy DIY planter project that took only a few minutes to put together. I love the earthy vibe of the planter and the statement it makes on our coffee table. Decor doesn’t always need to be complicated. Sometimes, you just need one solid statement piece to pack the visual-punch.
Since I used a few items that were in my storage room, this project was super affordable! I’m so happy with how this round planter DIY centerpiece turned out. I’d love to test out making these on a smaller scale for a bathroom accent or even on a dining table.
I’d love to see your take on this round planter DIY centerpiece! I think it’s a fun idea on a way to style a round planter or round bowl. Be sure to let me know if you decide to try this easy DIY project for yourself. As always, thanks for checking out the blog today
