Now that Valentine’s Day is behind us…I’m in full Spring-mode! I’ve been craving lots of lighter colors & textures this past week. Even though winter is (unfortunately) far from over in western PA, I couldn’t help but bring some of the fresh & clean spring vibes to our home. Maybe this will help spring come sooner?! Here’s to hoping!
To achieve this – I started by removing all of the dark winter greens. The large statement wreath above our couch was originally decorated with deep-colored dried florals and winter greens. I decided to replace these with some dried eucalyptus, yellow florals & neutral stems. Just this simple replacement changed the whole vibe of the space. It made it feel light & airy for spring…I’m loving it!
Next up, I put away all of the chunky textured pillows & blankets. The cable knit pillows and heavy woven textures definitely “cozy-d” up the room during the cooler months but they definitely read a little more “winter” than I wanted with spring just around the corner.
This time of year, I always love using lighter fabrics such as linen or cotton. This simple swap makes such an impact in lightening up the feel of the room.
I felt inspired this year to decorate our living room using lots of dried eucalyptus. I love the muted-green color because it’s a great transition before all of the bright green & colorful florals come out for summer. You can find eucalyptus bundles for only a few dollars at farmer’s markets or select grocery stores.
I picked up this eucalyptus and decided to place it in crocks & jars around the room. Nothing brings a space to life more than some greenery and eucalyptus has always been one of my favorite options!
Another addition I made to this room was the jute woven tray on our coffee table. I love using warm tones during spring because it makes spaces feel fresh and light! You can see I used this same warm wood tone in the tray, antique mirror & basket under the coffee table. Together, they warm up the space and give a nice contrast in a room full of neutrals.
I’m so excited for spring weather to roll around! Until then, I’ll slowly be making the inside of our home feel fresh and clean. It always amazes me how just a few small changes can make your home feel totally different!
I hope this little room-breakdown was helpful if you’ve been craving spring decor, like me! Let me know it the comments what you think of this space. Thanks for stopping by!
