A few weeks ago, I shared a post about our new master bedroom furniture. We’ve been loving it so far & I finally got around to styling our large dresser last weekend. Today, I thought I’d share how we decided to style it in case you are looking for ideas on how to decorate a large dresser.
Something I’ve learned about furnishing/styling a home? It takes time. Since this furniture was a large investment, it took me a bit of time to style it and find the pieces that I wanted to compliment this beautiful piece.
Now this styling will probably change approximately 800 times in my life but for now, I’m loving it! I of course went with neutral/light accents to compliment the rest of the room & let that pretty wood grain speak for itself.
The first piece I added was this antique mirror. Eli helped me hang this mirror that I found at the Pittsburgh Vintage Market Days show this year & I think it looks amazing in our bedroom! I love how the frame has a bit of authentic distressing that pulls out the color of the natural wood behind the creamy paint!
I’ve had this vintage lamp for awhile now and it’s one of my favorite pieces ever. I love the height that it gives the left side of the dresser and the chippy charm it displays. It kinda speaks for itself, although, I’m may be a bit biased.
For layering/interest purpose I added some book pages, an antique handheld mirror and some dried pink roses. I’m really loving the romantic vibe in here and the smaller decor pieces really help tie that look all together.
To even out each side of the dresser, I needed a taller statement piece to go on the right side. Personally, I always suggest having similar visual weight on each side when you decorate a large dresser. I put my dried wedding bouquet in a jar and I think it looks perfect in this spot! I was always a bit nervous having it displayed on the main level of our home because….puppy.…but now that Oakley is a bit older & can be trusted, I love having it visible. There’s really something special about waking up to that pretty bouquet every morning and being reminded of one of the best days of our lives. Too sappy for you? Sorry, not sorry.
I placed that jar onto another creamy antique mirror that I’ve had for some time now. This is a fun way to use small mirrors in your decorating! I always think they make such a cute “tray” to display pretty decor on & adds yet another layer of dimension.
Beside the wedding bouquet I placed some white pillar candles & a few antique tins. I found these a few weeks ago and loved the subtle color of them! Little pieces like these really make all the difference in decorating.
I had a lot of fun styling this piece! Bit by bit, our house is becoming a home and that makes me so happy. The piece was beautiful by itself but the decor really makes all of its beauty shine. I hope this post was helpful if you’ve been looking for ways to decorate a large dresser.
