So I’ve been wanting to try something for awhile now. I get this “itch to switch” every once in awhile and I’ve been so inspired by all of the gorgeous gold accents that I see hitting all of the stores right now. I thought it might be fun to use a bit of gold spray paint in this space to freshen it up.
We don’t have much gold in our home other than a few planters in our dining room but I’ve been wanting to test it out in a room in our house. I thought our bedroom might be the easiest place to start and a fun one to change up.
An easy room element to change is hardware so instead of buying all new gold hardware for this room, I went ahead and used some spray paint. This saved me tons of money and honestly a little spray paint can go such a long way!
I used this spray paint on our curtain rod/rings and barn door hardware. All of these were previously black (which you can see on this blog post, here) and beautiful but I was ready for change. After all, it can always be changed again if I don’t love it. Don’t let the fear of the unknown stop you from experimenting!
I’m really digging the vintage-y brass finish it left on our bedroom accents. I used about two coats on each piece and in a matter of 30 minutes, I had a brand new looking curtain rod/barn door. Ahh the magic of paint!
I think the color still has to grow on me and I’m considering painting these chippy french doors. Call be crazy, but I think the gold looks a bit too polished in combination of the distressed doors. What do you think?
In any case, it really made a big difference in this space and it goes to show that updates don’t have to be drastic to make in impact. A little gold spray paint and some imagination is all you really need.
Thanks for stopping by the blog today and seeing what projects I’ve been up to. It means the world to have you here!

This looks amazing! I googled to see if anyone pointed their barn door kit gold and this came up. Do you have any issues with the gold co no big off as the doors open and close? I don’t think about ghat before I sprayed them 🙁
Thanks!

That’s supposed to say: do you have any issues with the gold paint coming off as the doors open and close? iPhone typo..

We haven’t had any issues with that! I think this could be an issue on a regular door (not sliding) especially on the doorknob. The sliding barn door hasn’t chipped as of yet!
