Sometimes I just like removing decor from a space and putting it back together in a new way. Call me crazy and I won’t be offended. I love to play around with decor and get creative!
I thought it would be fun to put together a post sharing two different ways that I recently styled our round coffee table. I’m not going to fake it here….I struggle with this spot so much. I think the shape of our coffee table makes it harder to style that a square or rectangular option. Nonetheless, I came up with two ways that I’m actually torn between!
I’ve mentioned this tip a few times on the blog but I’ll say it here again in case ya missed it: Odd numbers are your friend! These two options that I put together show how true this is. In the first option, I used one large piece as a statement focal piece. As for the second display, I went ahead and used three main pieces. The eye loves odd numbers, it’s true.
I picked up this tassel table runner at HomeGoods because I loved how it brought a cozy element to the wooden coffee table. It’s actually a dining room table runner that I put on my coffee table because who says you have to stick to the instructions!? Not me. I always love having pieces like these to soften up a hard surface and the neutral color palette is so versatile!
Now to the styling. Last weekend, I found this big-ole-crock at an antique show and knew it would look awesome in our living room. I really want to start incorporating more crocks/stone pieces into this room because I love the cool colors and how well they compliment our throw pillows and blankets.
This crock really needed no further creativity other than plopping it onto our coffee table smack dab in the center and filling it with some faux olive stems. This is the easiest way to decorate a coffee table. Find a statement piece and fill it with your favorite flowers or greenery. Timeless and simple!
Now for a different approach to coffee table decorating. This option takes a bit more thought and intention. I kept the same runner on the table to keep that cozy living room vibe but went ahead and used three different focal points: Plant on pedestal, crock of candles, and a vintage clock.
Notice how each of these focal points are at varying heights. This is key to decorating your coffee table using more that one piece. I always like to have one tall, medium and short piece when styling. I love that this option gives a bit more interest and allows me to show off some vintage treasures.
I placed all of these on an antique frameless mirror to bring a little contrast against the soft runner. I love the reflection and how it brings yet another element of charm to the table.
I hope this inspired you as you decorate the coffee table in your home! It’s always fun to switch it up every now and then. If one of these options inspired you, be sure to share your photos and tag me on Instagram! I’d love to see how you styled your coffee table using some of these ideas.
Thanks so much for popping by and I’ll catch you guys next week after vacation!

Both styles look fantastic, Sarah! Your tips on varying the height of your pieces was new to me and I like it. Love the runner and the candles in the crock, too. Thanks so much and have a good vacay!
