Sometimes you spot a piece in an antique store and you just can not stop thinking about it. I tried with all of my might to walk away from this one but I just couldn’t. I like to think that it found me..
Can you even handle it?! It’s funny because I wasn’t exactly looking for a sign like this when I went antiquing last weekend but as soon as I saw it, it was meant to be.
This is an authentic wooden sign with chippy paint and rusty nails galore. I loved the charm of this sign and the weathered look!
I love adding pieces like this to our home because I think they add so much character. Adding character to a brand new house can sometimes be hard but antiques/vintage items really help. If you live in a new house like us and want to bring in some old-time charm, opt for antique pieces so that your home can start to tell a story of its’ own.
I’ve actually had a large authentic vintage sign on my “list” of things to find for years but I’ve had a hard time finding the right one at the right price. Another part that has tripped me up is finding a sign this large with wording & font that I loved. I love the wording & font on this sign…and the color combo! This one checked all of my boxes and I just couldn’t leave without it.
My thought is to put this as a large statement piece in our basement when we get that finished up (hopefully in the next year or two!) because we’d love to do a “lodge” theme down there with shiplap and a bar.
Until that day comes though, I wanted to be sure to put this charming beauty on display. I got home and started decorating it on this cabinet in our dining room & I must say, I’m loving it! I didn’t really have anything on this cabinet and it was screaming for a big-ole statement piece against that large wall.
I added some faux pine garland to make it a bit more festive. Oh and some jingle bells because…it’s Christmas time, people! I’m loving the dark contrast against the lighter furniture and wall. It really makes the sign “pop!”
I can’t wait to hang this in our basement one day and see how it looks against some white shiplap. Be still my heart. I have a feeling this is a piece we will have for years to come!
So, what do you think of our new vintage sign? Comment below! Thanks for stopping by the blog today & have a great week!
